If you plan to traverse the hiking trail to to the top you’ll need loads of stamina and a bit of caution. The views on this trail are unmatched, but it is not for those who are not familiar with hiking on a higher skill level. Many people feel that the hike is well worth the effort and limited amount of risk. It has become one of the most popular trails in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The Chimney Top hiking trail in the Smoky Mountain nature is very steep, rising 1,300 feet in total altitude in its two short miles. The highest point of the trail is almost 5,000 feet above sea level. The trail begins with a few bridges and some easy land to cross through. Arriveing at Beech Flats Cove and the half way poit of the trail, you will find two different trails. If you stay on the main trail you will eventually arrive at Chimney Tops.
