Opinion On “Texas Wages War on Feral Hogs With the Latest in Weaponry”

Two good points, Andrew. I can’t personally vouch for the first – about the meat being ‘gamey’, but it makes sense and certainly agrees with my experiences growing up eating nearly as much wild meat as farm grown meat.

About the second – the humaneness of population control by people vs. by nature: I suppose it is easy to condemn human killing of advice animals even when the animals are causing destruction, unless you have watched nature do it. Predators have no sense of mercy, and no concern for the suffering of their victims. Neither does the natural processes of starvation, disease or freezing to death.

As with most things in life and death, when we judge something right or wrong, to be honest and fair we have to consider the alternative.
