A Doctor’s Views About Drinking Alcohol During Pregnancy

October 30th, 2008 by admin

Fred made an appointment to see his doctor.  When his doctor walked into the room and asked why Fred was at the office, Fred stated that he had a question about his wife’s drinking.  As the doctor knew, Angie, his wife, was five months pregnant.  Fred then told the doctor that his wife has been drinking, at times more than moderately, ever since she found out that she was pregnant.  “Should I be concerned about my wife drinking alcohol during pregnancy?” Fred asked the doctor.  The doctor said that he will have a talk with Angie about her drinking because she needs to maintain at most a moderate drinking level while she is pregnant and if he can present his case forcefully enough, he is going to try to convince her to stop drinking entirely the rest of her pregnancy.
