Being the daughter of elderly parents has brought a new set of concerns and problems to consider and prepare for in advance to handle. Both of my parents suffer from poor cardiac function making our entire family painfully aware of the possible events that we will eventually have to face at some point in our futures. This realization has led us to purchase a defibrillator that we keep in our parents’ home in the event that one of them should ever develop the need for this devise. In addition, we have jointly taken classes on the use and maintenance of the AED. We all sincerely hope that we will never use this but we are also take comfort in the fact that we can if we need to.
