I was amazed to learn that that modern furniture has origins in the 1920’s. It’s actually much older than I thought it was. My introduction to modern furniture came when I went with a girlfriend to the furniture store. She wanted to buy a sideboard for her contemporary dining room. I saw two pieces I fell in love with. A glass and chrome round side table and a Barcelona Chair. I couldn’t believe how comfortable the chair was. Actually, all of the contemporary sofas that I sat on were surprisingly comfortable. I bought both the table and chair that very day. They may be my first two pieces of modern furniture but they won’t be my last.
