Kitchen Extractor Fan Needs Clean Filters

August 21st, 2009 by admin

Our first clue was that whenever we would try to cook anything in our oven,  the smoke alarm would go off.  This happened even when we could hear the motor on the kitchen extractor fan running.  It was puzzling until I opened the filter case and discovered that it was completely covered with smoke and grease residue.  We then realized that our fan was drawing the smoke though a carbon filter and then recirculating it into the room   When the filter became clogged it could no longer pull the new smoke through it.  Once the filter was replaced it started to work like it should.
