When I actually wrote down how much money I made and then started to track where it was going it became a little scary.  It was easy to figure car payments and house payments and I understood those big blocks.  Where my Personal Finance picture really came to light was when I started to break down those big credit card payments.  When I just made one credit card payment it was easy to be less than responsible.  When I broke down the credit card bills into categories and saw how much money was going for eating out and entertainment I had to become responsible in those areas.
