Birdwatching Walks and Waits

August 25th, 2008 by admin

Desert birdwatching is different than it is in the eastern USA.  First of all there are fewer places for the birds to hide. And each little souce of water is like an oasis for the birds that are passing by.  Often birdwatchers invite people to go on bird walks but they do not often explain that these are also bird WAITS.  Times when you just stand still or lean against a rock or tree if there is one and wait for the desert birds to simply arrive. The best place to wait is near shade and water. Desert birds will come.
