There are numerous types of woods used for making the handle of custom knives. But the woods that are generally used for this purpose are desert ironwood and bocote wood. The sheer beauty and versatility of these woods add exceptional value to the beauty of custom knife handles.
Desert Ironwood is supposed to be one of the densest of exotic woods found in the Sonoran desert of the Mexico and US. It is not very easy to work with this wood. While the desert ironwood is very easy to work with, bocote wood is heavy and hard.
