Harsh Consequences in France for File Sharing

I can’t imagine living without my internet access, which is why I wouldn’t use file sharing software in France. I just read an article about how french law cracks down on filesharing, and it seems like they are going to be shutting down people’s internet access if they are caught using this type of software. I wonder if it is possible to get it back? Are they doing this indefinitely, or just for a certain period of time? I am sure people could still get access to the internet in other places, though they wouldn’t be able to use the file sharing software from there.
